How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? 6 months

What is your favorite food? Gummy bears

What is your favorite exercise? Bench press

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them? My initial goals were to get back into a good workout routine, build strength, and regain some of the definition I've lost over the years. That soon changed to wanting to compete in bodybuilding. My goal for that was simply to look like I belonged on stage with the rest of the competitors. On May 4th, I competed in my first NPC competition and not only did I feel like I belonged, I was awarded 5th place in true novice men's physique.

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health? Working out is important because I truly enjoy doing it. I've made it a regular part of my life. I stay motivated by constantly setting new goals. When I achieve one I feel a sense of accomplishment which drives me to work harder on the next.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X? My most memorable moment so far was the day the idea of competing in bodybuilding was first mentioned to me.

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? Simple...It's like being with family.

Is there anything you would like to mention? Huge thank you to all of the Bodyshop Athletics X family!

“Mike Smalls puts in work! That's what he does. His first goal coming in to train was to feel as athletic as he was in the past. It didn't take long before he was squatting 400+, Benching 300, and Deadlifting 425. After he was able to accomplish his first goal, he decided to pursue Men's Physique. Once we set the course, he was on his way. If you want an athlete who challenges you to be better because he wants to be better, Mike is that athlete. It's been a pleasure to be a part of his team and I look forward to the future!” -J.W.

With Diamond, she's all in, all the time. Her questions are intriguing and relevant. Here work ethic is high, and her commitment is full! How long have you been working out at Bodyshop Athletics X? 2 years in May

What is your favorite food? Any type of meat and potatoes

What is your favorite exercise? Deadlift

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them? I had a Deadcember goal of 315 and beat it by 35 lbs. to pull 350! Coach Matt kept me progressing a little each week as we trained. Each little step added up to a big achievement! It was the first real lifting goal I have set and accomplished. I have learned the correct way to exercise and it has made all the difference in the world.

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health? I want to continue a good quality of life for many years to come and working out is a key component to that. It’s rewarding to see your goals achieved, your strength increasing, and your present quality of life improving.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X? Definitely hitting and far surpassing my deadlift goal. Working toward that in squat and bench as well!

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? I should have done this long ago. Training with Matt has been fun, challenging and a huge learning experience! If you want to grow with your weight program, Bodyshop X is the place to do it!

Is there anything you would like to mention? Thanks to Jason for creating such a positive environment that stresses Christian values and family. I really relate to and appreciate that!

Jim Miller is always a pleasure to train. He comes in every session ready to put in work, no matter what is on the "menu" for the day. Over the past year we have been consistently setting and crushing goals. With the changing seasons comes different goals. Jim is an avid barefoot water skier. During the spring and summer it was not our goal to see how much we could squat, bench, or deadlift. However he loves to learn new techniques! We practiced various different ques with moderate weights. This allowed Jim to practice and feel what worked well and what did not, while not leaving him too sore to ski during the warm months. Once summer ended we started putting all of our technique work into lifting heavy!  His biggest lift came last December with a huge PR deadlift at 350lbs. Over 35 pounds more than our original goal!

Jim has not slowed down because of this though. He is continuing to come in, set new goals, and continue to work hard. With summer right around the corner our goals have changed again. His muscle gains went very well over the fall and winter. I know he is excited to start some high intensity workouts and get ready for ski season!–M.L.

What is your favorite food? My favorite food is pizza.

What is your favorite exercise? My favorite exercise is squatting.

Did you have any goals? How have you accomplished them? My main goal was to be stronger and in better shape for my senior basketball season. As the season is closing, I can say that working out has definitely improved my play on the court.

Why is working out important to you? What keeps you motivated to pursue health? Working out is important to me because it enables me to remain healthy and maintain my general health. My motivation comes from a desire to never let my fitness (or lack there of) keep me from being able to engage in physical activities.

What is one of your favorite or most memorable moments so far at Bodyshop Athletics X? My favorite memory so far has been hitting my max weight back-squatting. Another memorable moment was when I came in from running laps in the parking lot and Matt told me I looked like a model while running. *finger guns*

How would you describe your experience at Bodyshop Athletics X to a friend? The training staff has been incredibly useful in not only helping me reach my fitness goals, but they have also passed on knowledge to me to help understand how to achieve my goals. As well as being knowledgeable, the trainers have been very friendly and have made working out with them a great experience.

Is there anything you would like to mention? Jason has given me a much deeper understanding of the Marvel Universe than I previously possessed.

Banks Fryer is a good hardworking kid. He is a talented athlete, but his character speaks volumes. When training, Banks brings everything he has. It's been fun to watch his training translate to being one of the strongest, and most fit kids on the court. As a senior basketball player this year, he has taken the reigns as leader. His position of captain is not just labeled because he's a talented athlete, but he sets a Christ-like example for the other young men to follow. -J.W.
